We are 100% volunteer run and operate solely on donations. This being said we do have an adoption fee, this fee is determined by the age, training, and other misc cost. We will adopt out to individuals who are residents of Arizona and after approval from a majority of our board of directors. The adoption fee is a tax deduction.

 


 Definitions Of Rider Type:

  Beginner: Never ridden before,
                never been around horses.

  Intermediate: Ridden some, usually broke horses,
                 nothing green.

  Experienced: Ridden lots of different types and 
                 temperments of horses. 
                 Can handle most situations well.

  Advanced: Has been around horses of all different
                 types for a long time.
                 Trained or re-trained many horses
                 and can handle almost any
                 situation that comes up.



AJHR Explanation Of Terms:

ABUSED:  Horse abuse can happen in more ways than one,Beating, Starving, Neglecting, Using the horse for money, Drugging, Letting the horse suffer, Not feeding him properly, Not taking him to the vet when needed, That’s only a few of the ways to abuse a horse or pony. Abuse is when someone intentionally sets out to harm, injure or kill a horse.

NEGLECTED: N
eglect is the lack of appropriate care.
Neglect can be caused by inexperienced or ignorant horse owners. . An owner may be unable to care for a horse properly, may not know how to care for one or just may be overwhelmed and cannot provide hay or feed, veterinary services and upkeep. Neglect is more common than outright abuse. More horses are seized by government or rescue agencies due to neglect than abuse.

UNWANTED:
Moving, divorce, financial hardship, death in family, family illness, animal retiring from lesson program.
